Work Life Balance

I have noticed that people often times struggle with work-life balance but they do not understand the underlying cause of it and how to manage time in a world where work has become more dynamic in nature.
Let's start with with a simple rule to keep it short. All you have to remember is 8-8-8. 8-8-8 means 8 hrs of work, 8 hrs of sleep and 8 hrs of everything else. Let me sum up my logic for you to understand it better.
I start my day at 8AM because I sleep at 12AM. That means, I had 8 hours of sleep. If you do not sleep before 12AM, then you are compromising with your sleep.
I leave for work at 9AM, and It will take me atleast 1 to 1.5 hrs of travel. Your travel distance should not be more than 1.5 hrs and less than 1 hour is recommended travel distance. you will know why soon.
I reach to office at 10AM. I check emails, have some breakfast while on my work desk, apply attendance, and prepare for standup video call.
At 10:30AM, the standup call happens. Standup call has about 6 to 10 members and call takes 1 hour or less to complete. Which means, each person has 6 to 10 mins each day to convey what they are working on and their progress.
At 11:30AM, I start my work and I dedicate my time in planning, designing, brainstorming and performing tasks.
At 1:30AM, I have lunch and have a walk sipping lemon ice tea that I bought from a cafe. one thing to note here is: It takes 1 hour of call or meeting, and 1 hour of lunch each day.
At 2:30PM, I dedicate my time in performing my task that extends upto 5:30PM. This sums up to 6 hours of dedicated work and it includes meetings and standup calls. The division is such that you get 1 hour of lunch break, and your time division for dedicated work is 3-3 i.e. 3 hours of planning, designing, brainstorming and 3 hours of implementation.
At 5:30PM, I leave office and I have 1 to 1.5 hrs to reach home. This means 1 hour of dedicated driving with no distractions.
At 7:00PM, I reach home. I get fresh. At 7:30PM, I have snacks and tea, I listen to music, hobbies, etc. Basically, It is where the 8-8-8 comes into play i.e. 8 hours of work, 8 hours of sleep, and 8 hours of everything else. I won't be specific about it because it is "ME time".
Coincidentally, It is now 10PM and it is the 10th point i.e. "Dinner Time". so 1 hour of dinner time and I am ready to go to sleep at 12:00AM after a bit of chat with family and friends.
Now the cycle completes here and days repeat as usual. This schedule is great for WFO (work from office), WFH (work from home), and Hybrid. Where 5 days are workdays and 2 days are weekends. On Weekends i.e. Sundays and Saturdays, you live via your savings, investments or overtime. You get saturdays for hobbies, travelling and shopping groceries for the whole week, and sundays for relaxation.
Now the cycle completes here and weeks repeat. Each week has 7 days and it sums up to 365 days a year as we already know. Now there are 6 mandatory holidays i.e. to meet family and friends and enjoy time together. Those 6 holidays are occassions in India. There are 6 holidays that matters:
Holi - Good defeating Evil and devotion overcoming tyranny.
Diwali - victory of light over darkness, good over evil.
RakshaBandhan - Responsibility of being brothers & sisters.
BhaiDooj - Protection between brothers and sisters.
NewYear - renewal, reflection, & shared cultural identity.
Dussehra - the triumph of righteousness over evil.
Though some consider them just ocassions, I consider them a lifestyle for being a human or humanity.
Now the cycle completes. See you next year!
PS: just kidding!
In #Bharat, There are 6 holidays that matters:
#Holi
#Diwali
#RakshaBandhan
#BhaiDooj
#NewYear
#Dussehra
That means #Hindu needs at-least 6 festive mandatory holidays.
